Loving others
“There is only one happiness in life, to love and to be loved” - George Sand
Although we don’t want to admit it, the one thing we as human beings long for is love. We desire love, we are driven by love, and we are influenced by love.
Love is the desire to be accepted, to be wanted, to be needed, to be cared for, to be cherished and to be chosen.
Loving others begins with loving yourself first. How you love others is a direct expression on how you love yourself. Matthew 22:39 says ‘love your neighbour as you love yourself.’ The thing about love is that you can’t give what you don’t have, and you can only give what you have based on how you have received it. Some of us don’t know how to show love because we received love in the wrong ways, and some of us don’ t love because we aren’t loved. A great quote by Madame de Stael says “We cease loving ourselves if no one loves us”.
So you see, love creates a butterfly effect. When you receive it you learn how to love yourself. And when you love yourself, you know how to love others. And those people you love will express that love you showed them to others.
Let the word on the phone case be a way of life not just a word. Let it be a reminder that we shouldn’t love ourselves alone but let us show love to people around us, not only our family and friends, but to strangers, and yes, even your worst enemy.
